Using our “know-how” in the bulk transport to deliver comprehensive high quality services, NYK has been transporting this vital cargo to the global economy, such as iron ore, coal and wood chips.

Our experience and global network operations enable us to provide the optimum level of fleet maintenance required for each type of load, gaining recognition around the world. In addition to our cargo operations based in Japan, we expand the service globally especially in the Atlantic trade routes to the sea.

Our experience especially in the chips segment has started since 2001, when Uruguay forestry joined this new type of production and transport logistics. During the last ten years, we have operated more than 60 ships in the port of Montevideo.

Unlike standard bulk ships vessels, woodchip vessels were especially designed to have greater depth to carry more cargo displacement. In recent times, this type of ship also carries soybean meal from Paraná river terminals.
